JJ is a hero
Most of the time when people play their favorite album you listen to it, say yeah cool man, fucking excellent indeed. Of course you'd normally never buy this CD and deep inside you feel it is so crap you wouldn't even download it for free. Of course this is only nine out of ten. Sometimes someone plays an album you wouldn't even notice because it feels so comfy, so very excellent, brilliant, outrageous, mind blowing, so intimate, you think you grew up with it. You suddenly start singing although you never heard the song in your entire life. You turn your head and ask the magic question: Who the fuck is this?

This is what happened to me in a youth hostel in Rethymno on Crete listening to Brushfire Fairytales. The absolutely insane manager of this place played the CD and everyone turned his head looking at him asking the same question. I instantly fell in love with this album and offered the manager the fair choice of either handing over the CD or receive a sound beating. Of course I would return the CD but I wanted it so badly I was almost desperate to get it.

Brushfire FairytalesWell I did get it. For the moment I had to copy it but decided this CD deserves it to be bought. Sure you can download music from the internet but if an album is as good as this it makes me feel bad nicking it. This CD worth it's money and I don't say that very often.

I consider it as one of the most brilliant albums of all times. It is better than Eric Claptons "Unplugged" which says a lot, in a league with Stairway to Heaven, Dark side of the moon, In Utero or Flaspoint, even better than Evil Kristos Vampire Blues which as we all know is one of the finest pieces of music ever written :-)

Whenever I played the CD later the same thing happened. People turned their head and asked who the fuck is this? This album is brilliant. Gentleman that I am I answer the question in the most polite way know by men: You don't know JJ? Get alive sucker, he is a fucking hero.

Now I'm writing this JJ is known in Europe too, well at least by a few people. I recently read an article in a big newspaper actually reviewing his latest masterpiece. I couldn't believe it. JJ finally receives the attention he deserves. I might start believing in justice again.

The downside of it is that I tried to get my hand on a couple of tickets for his European tour but they were sold out within five minutes. Needless to say I am rather pissed off because of it. Why the fuck did I tell people about JJ? Silly me!

If by the way you still haven't guessed who JJ is go to the next CD shop and ask for Brushfire Fairytales, listen into it and if you don't fall in love with it the very same moment you should see your GP because their certainly is something wrong with your hearing or your taste or your brain. Of course this won't happen 'cause so far every single person I know that listened to this most amazing album bought the other two CD's as well. The reason being: JACK JOHNSON IS FUCKING A HERO!

Loosing Hope

I got a faulty parachute
I got a stranger's friend
An exciting change in
My butchers blend
A symbol on the ceiling
With the flick of a switch
Yeah my new found hero
And the enemy's ditching

Well somebodies something was left in a room
And now that its gone well of course we assume
Somebody else needed something so bad
They took everything somebody had

Losing hope is easy
When your only friend is gone
And every time you look around
Well, it all, it all just seems to change

The mark was left
Man it's never the same
Next time that you shoot
Make sure that you aim
Open windows with passing cars
A brand new night
With the same old stars

Losing hope is easy
When your only friend is gone
And every time you look around
Well, it all, it all just seems to change

Feed the fool
A piece of the pie
Make a fool of his system
Make a fool of his mind
Give him bottles of lies
And maybe he'll find
His place in heaven
Cause he might just die

Losing hope is easy
When your only friend is gone
And every time you look around
Well, it all, it all just seems to change

But hanging on is easy
When you've got a friend to call
When nothings making sense at all
You're not the only one that's afraid of change
